A shooting took place at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, during the Hanukkah celebration. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of this incident, 10 people died, including Eli Shlanger, a representative of the "Chabad" organization and a rabbi. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
During the shooting, representatives of the Australian Zionist Federation were also injured. Local law enforcement agencies announced that they had arrested two people following the incident.
At present, a special operation is ongoing at the scene. The police have strictly urged local residents and tourists not to go to this area and to comply with security measures.
According to Jeremy Leibler, president of the Australian Zionist Federation, the country's Jewish community is shocked by the incident. He stated that about two thousand people had gathered at Bondi Beach to celebrate Hanukkah and light the first candle.
Representatives of Jewish organizations have been in contact with the government and emphasized that they are paying great attention to assisting the victims and their families. It is worth noting that in November last year, another representative of the "Chabad" organization, Rabbi Svi Kogan, was killed.
It was revealed that this crime against Kogan, who lived in the United Arab Emirates, was committed by citizens of Uzbekistan.
