Israel's Mossad intelligence service may have warned Australian security agencies about a possible attack against the Jewish community in Australia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by Israel's Kan TV channel based on its sources. It is said that Australian security agencies received information several times about the possibility of a terrorist attack.
However, the Australian government has not officially confirmed this information. According to New South Wales Police Commissioner Mel Lennon, no such intelligence information was provided by Israel.
He emphasized that if the police had clear and reliable information, necessary measures would have been taken to ensure security. On Sunday, 12 people were killed and 29 citizens were injured in a shooting near Bondi Beach in Sydney.
The attack was carried out by two individuals. One of them was killed at the scene, and the other was captured alive.
It is noted that this tragedy occurred while the Jewish community was celebrating Hanukkah. Security measures have now been increased in Australia.
The reasons for the incident and whether intelligence warnings actually existed are still under investigation.
