Import tariffs introduced by former US President Donald Trump at the beginning of 2025 generated $200 billion in revenue for the country's state budget. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by CNBC. According to US Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott, these measures were implemented to strengthen economic security, protect American industry, and hold accountable those attempting to violate trade laws.
He noted that strict control and prompt actions are crucial in this process. Donald Trump introduced new import tariffs on products coming from several countries without Congress's approval.
The main goal of these measures was to protect the economic interests of the United States. Specifically, special tariffs were imposed on products imported from Canada, China, and Mexico.
Trump criticized these countries for failing to stop the illegal flow of narcotics, particularly fentanyl, into the US. The White House leader emphasized several times that the US earns more than $2 billion daily from customs tariffs.
At the same time, the Supreme Court is currently reviewing the legality of the new tariffs.
