Cases of influenza are rapidly increasing in Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Currently, at least one in every 100 people has been recorded as infected with this disease. In some regions, the number of patients has doubled within a week.
Experts are keeping the epidemiological situation under constant surveillance and do not rule out the possibility of further deterioration. According to medical specialists, the A (H3N2) strain, known as the Hong Kong flu, has been identified as the main causative agent this season.
This virus poses a particular danger due to its high contagiousness and potential to cause severe complications. The risk is especially greater for pregnant women, young children, elderly people, and individuals with chronic illnesses.
The Hong Kong flu is classified as an acute viral infection and primarily affects the respiratory organs. The illness manifests with symptoms such as high fever, muscle and headache pain, and severe intoxication.
In some cases, nausea and digestive system disturbances may also be observed. For reference, the Hong Kong flu was first identified in Hong Kong in 1968.
Today, it continues to spread worldwide as a seasonal flu after undergoing mutations. Therefore, experts recommend following safety measures and getting vaccinated against the flu.
