A bridge located in Qoshqarota village, Keles district, Turkistan region of Kazakhstan collapsed on December 18. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to local authorities cited by mass media, no one was injured at the time of the incident because traffic had been temporarily restricted due to cracks that had appeared on the bridge.
Preliminary information indicates that the collapse of the bridge is related to its aging and the erosion caused by water flow under the supporting pillars. Currently, the Emergency Situations Service, law enforcement agencies, and representatives of the local executive authority are working at the scene.
The bridge was under the jurisdiction of the Passenger Transport and Highways Department of Turkistan region. The bridge is currently being repaired urgently.
Residents are advised to use temporary detour routes of 10–15 kilometers, which pass through the villages of Alpamis and Birtilek.
Responsible organizations state that the situation is fully under control.
