A major company in the trade sector, Wildberries, plans to expand its range of services. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Russian RBK publication, the company is working on opening an online cinema. If the project is successfully implemented, it will allow Wildberries to establish its position not only in the trade market but also in the video content sector.
Earlier, the company considered purchasing the Ivi streaming platform but decided against buying a ready-made service and opted to create an entirely new platform. This decision indicates that Wildberries is relying on a long-term strategy.
According to sources, the new cinema is expected to launch in 2026. The content policy and creative direction of the project may be managed by Artur Janibekyan, founder of Comedy Club Production.
He has previously worked on popular projects such as “Nasha Russia,” “Dom-2,” and “Universitet.” Additionally, the company’s press service declined to comment on this news.
They neither confirmed nor denied the reports about the online cinema. Notably, Wildberries has not limited itself to online trade in recent years.
The company launched the Wibes social network similar to TikTok and started a taxi service in Uzbekistan in December 2023. Furthermore, acquiring the Fun&Sun tour operator shows that the company is expanding its range of services and strengthening its ecosystem.
If the online cinema project is realized, Wildberries could become a strong player in the streaming market in Russia and the region. This would increase competition and provide viewers with richer and more engaging content.
