On December 19, 2023, a year-end press conference was held in Moscow with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the conference, the president answered questions from citizens and media representatives for almost 4.5 hours. He paid special attention to important issues troubling society, including demography and family values.
According to Vladimir Putin, the decline in population is currently an urgent problem for almost all developed countries. He noted that the birth rate in Japan is 0.8, and in South Korea it is 0.7.
In Russia, this indicator is currently around 1.4. The president believes that to increase the population in the country, it is necessary to reach at least a rate of 2, but he emphasized that this is not an easy task.
The head of state also addressed the causes of this problem. According to him, in modern society many women prioritize education, skill development, and career advancement.
For this reason, the first child is often born after the age of 30. At this age, mothers may be physically and mentally exhausted.
Putin stressed the necessity of promoting parenthood, motherhood, and fatherhood values in society, making them respected and "trendy." The president also touched on traditional values, including the issue of early marriage.
He positively assessed the custom among the peoples of the Caucasus of encouraging marriage at a younger age and cited Ramzan Kadyrov's family as an example in this regard. At the same time, acknowledging the difficulties faced by young families, Putin recommended not to delay marriage and having children excessively.
In his opinion, these steps are crucial for ensuring a stable future for society and maintaining demographic balance.
