US President Donald Trump announced plans to organize a nationwide sports competition among teenagers — the “Patriotic Games” in 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the USA's independence and holds symbolic significance. One of the most interesting aspects of the competition was the selection process of the participants.
Only high school students can participate. One boy and one girl are selected from each state.
In this way, the competition covers all regions of the country, bringing together young people from different states on a single sports field. This initiative sparked extensive discussions on social media.
Some users compared it to the famous writer Suzanne Collins' work “The Hunger Games,” highlighting the similarities. In that work, young people are also selected from different regions of the country to participate in various trials and competitions.
However, according to officials, the “Patriotic Games” aim to promote sports, unity, and national pride. Nevertheless, these similarities did not go unnoticed by many.
Interestingly, the “Hunger Games” franchise will also continue in 2026. The prequel film titled “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is expected to be released on the big screen that year.
As a result, 2026 is expected to be a “year of games” in the USA not only in sports but also in cinema.
