Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expressed his pleasure at Uzbekistan becoming a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized this in his speech at the high-level meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council. According to Lukashenko, Uzbekistan is steadily moving towards deep integration with the EAEU and is taking important steps in this direction.
"We highly appreciate the efforts you are making in this direction. It would be wonderful if Uzbekistan becomes a full member of the EAEU.
We will always welcome you with open arms," said the Belarusian president. It should be recalled that Uzbekistan obtained observer status in the EAEU in December 2020.
By 2024, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the union reached 17.5 billion dollars. Of this figure, 5.8 billion dollars accounted for exports, and 11.6 billion dollars for imports.
These figures indicate that economic relations between Uzbekistan and the EAEU are steadily strengthening.
