China has called on the United States to reduce its nuclear weapons. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This call came after the Pentagon released a report on China's military power. The report noted that China has deployed over one hundred intercontinental missiles near the Mongolian border and has not expressed a willingness to participate in arms control negotiations.
According to Lin Jianning, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the country with the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, the US should reduce its stockpiles and encourage other nuclear states to do the same. Lin emphasized that the US is using statements about China's nuclear program as a pretext to modernize its own weapons.
The Pentagon report highlighted that China is rapidly expanding and modernizing its nuclear weapons. It stated that while China is estimated to have about 600 nuclear warheads in 2024, this number could exceed 1,000 by 2030.
In the US, there are currently approximately 5,177 nuclear warheads. China's statements on this matter were announced following US President Donald Trump's remarks about the possibility of holding negotiations with China and Russia to reduce nuclear weapons.
Beijing stresses the need for clear and practical measures to ensure global stability.
