
An explosion occurred in a mosque in the city of Maiduguri, located in northeastern Nigeria. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The incident took place around 6:00 PM on December 24. The explosion happened in a mosque located in the Gamboru market area, filled with people, before the evening prayer.
According to witnesses, the explosion occurred unexpectedly and caused great panic inside the mosque. Police officer Nahum Daso confirmed the incident and stated that specialists are currently conducting investigations at the scene.
Some witnesses speculate that this attack may have been carried out by a suicide bomber. Officials have not provided exact information about the number of injured, but they mentioned it could be several dozen.
The local police chief, Babakura Kolo, assessed the incident as an act of terrorism. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.
It is worth noting that Maiduguri is the capital of Borno State. This area has previously been associated with the activities of terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
In recent years, the city had relatively achieved peace, but this tragedy has raised concerns once again.
