China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the United States of obstructing the improvement of relations between China and India. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In a statement given on December 25, ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that the US is misinterpreting its defense policy. According to Lin Jian, the reduction of tensions in the border area with India is being misinterpreted by the US with the aim of benefiting from China-India relations and hindering the deepening of US-India cooperation.
He noted that China's relations with India are long-term and of strategic importance. The Chinese representative specifically stressed that the border issue is solely an internal matter between China and India and expressed opposition to other countries evaluating this issue.
This statement was made in response to a report released by the US Department of Defense on December 23. The Pentagon report stated that China is "trying to benefit from the reduction of border tensions and obstruct the strengthening of US-India relations."
China considers these views unfounded.
