On the night of December 27, Russia launched large-scale missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Ukrainian officials, hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles were used in this attack. As a result, residential buildings in Kyiv and its surrounding areas were damaged, and infrastructure facilities suffered significant losses.
As a consequence of the attack, one person was killed in the Kyiv region, and at least 19 civilians, including two children, were injured in the capital itself. In some districts of the city, electricity and heating supplies were cut off, leaving thousands of households without energy in cold conditions.
Rescue services continue to search for citizens who may be trapped under the rubble. These attacks occurred on the eve of an important meeting expected between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the US President.
This meeting was planned to discuss stopping the war, territorial issues, and providing security guarantees to Ukraine. Zelensky described these attacks as pressure against peace initiatives.
The attacks also affected regional security. Some airports in Poland's border areas with Ukraine were temporarily closed.
Although the Russian side has not yet issued an official statement regarding the attacks, both parties have announced that they continue communications regarding peace negotiations.
