According to Insider Gaming, the presentation of PlayStation 6 and the new Xbox consoles may be delayed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The delay is said to be caused by a shortage in the RAM market and rising prices. This issue has arisen due to a sharp increase in demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Initially, the new generation consoles were planned to be presented in 2027–2028. This was reported by kursiv.uz.
Moreover, the problem is not limited to future consoles only. According to the publication, current generation consoles — PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S models — may also not become as affordable as expected.
On the contrary, their prices might increase by 2026. This is because chip manufacturers and suppliers are prioritizing components necessary for artificial intelligence servers.
As a result, it is becoming difficult to find affordable and sufficient parts for the gaming industry. Platform owners are considering postponing the presentation of new consoles to avoid excessively raising prices.
The final decision will depend on whether manufacturing plants can quickly expand their capacity. Otherwise, the prices of gaming equipment may continue to rise in the coming years.
