Machado said the period of democratic transition has begun in Venezuela

Additionally, she noted that after officials abandoned negotiations, the United States fulfilled its obligations and acted to ensure the rule of law. The opposition leader stressed the urgent need for Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, elected as the country's new president, to assume office immediately.
Machado recognized him as Venezuela's legitimate leader and the supreme commander of the armed forces. She called on her supporters in Venezuela to maintain order and be prepared for upcoming political changes.
She also urged Venezuelans living abroad to actively support the democratic changes in the country on the international stage. She assessed the current situation as a decisive moment for Venezuela and expressed confidence that the transfer of power will occur through democratic means.
