2.5 million people celebrated the New Year in Rio de Janeiro

The world's largest New Year celebration took place in Rio de Janeiro. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event was recorded by the Guinness World Records as the largest New Year celebration in the world. According to UPI, nearly 2.5 million people gathered on Copacabana beach to mark the beginning of 2026.
This large-scale event was recognized not only for the number of participants but also for its cultural significance and the high quality of entertainment. During the celebration, three large stages were set up on the beach.
The organizers launched 19 floating platforms for a 12-minute fireworks display. Additionally, a special show involving 1,200 drones was held.
According to city administration data, the 2.5 million figure refers only to those gathered on Copacabana beach. When combined with events held in other areas of Rio de Janeiro, nearly five million people participated in the New Year celebrations.
This large-scale event entered history as an important occasion not only for Rio de Janeiro but for the entire world.
