Chinese Foreign Minister on an official visit to Africa

According to tradition, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi began his official visit to Africa at the beginning of the new year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During this trip, he will visit Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, and Lesotho. The visit will last until January 12 and aims to further develop China’s trade and economic relations with Africa.
The main goal of the visit is to strengthen strategically important trade routes in East and Southern Africa. The maritime routes passing through Somali territory hold a significant place for China’s international trade.
Tanzania is regarded as a key country connecting Africa’s inland areas with seaports, making it strategically important for China. In recent years, African countries have focused more on attracting investments rather than taking out loans.
Therefore, China is promoting initiatives aimed at infrastructure projects as well as the manufacturing sector and the creation of new jobs. This could bring economic cooperation between China and Africa to a new level.
The visit to Lesotho is aimed at supporting China’s free trade policy. China had previously granted the poorest countries duty-free access to its market.
This approach helps some African countries suffering from US trade restrictions by providing them with important economic opportunities.
