Venezuela and the US restore diplomatic relations

Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, made an important statement on January 9 regarding the renewed diplomatic policy of the US. According to her, Venezuela and the United States are discussing the restoration of diplomatic missions and the resumption of embassy activities.
This process is considered an important step aimed at restoring diplomatic relations that have been interrupted for the past seven years. Both sides have agreed to carry out this work on a trial basis.
According to the US State Department, on January 9, US diplomats visited Caracas, Venezuela, to explore the possibilities of resuming embassy activities. According to the New York Times, these steps are the initial organizational actions between the two countries, and the process is being conducted on a trial basis.
According to Delcy Rodriguez, the main goal of restoring diplomatic relations is to discuss mutually beneficial issues and to address the consequences related to the kidnapping of the Venezuelan president and first lady. At the same time, on January 9, US President Donald Trump gathered heads of American oil companies at the White House to discuss investment in Venezuelan oil.
This step is said to have been taken to increase US interest in Venezuela's oil industry and to consider strategic interests.
