The US restricts immigrant visas for 75 countries

The US Department of State has approved a plan to temporarily suspend the issuance of immigrant visas for citizens of 75 countries. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This measure is set to take effect on January 21, 2026, and its duration is currently unknown. The decision is based on the "public charge" criterion, which assesses individuals who are likely to require government assistance after immigrating to the US.
For this reason, embassies have been instructed to review the visa processing procedures. It is important to note that this applies only to immigrant visas.
Non-immigrant visas, such as tourist or business visas, are not subject to this restriction. The list of countries expected to be affected by the restriction has not yet been finalized.
Although some sources mention countries like Somalia, Russia, and Iran, an official and complete list has not been published. As for Uzbekistan, it is currently not included in this list.
However, final conclusions on this matter will be known once the official list is announced.
