Trump has not given up on the plan to buy Greenland
Former US President Donald Trump had not given up on the idea of buying Greenland. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

He explained this intention as a means to ensure regional security, as well as to limit the influence of Russia and China. The issue of purchasing the world's largest island sparked intense discussions.

Washington was trying not only to exert political pressure but also to persuade Denmark and the people of Greenland with huge financial offers to accept its position. There are various estimates regarding the price of Greenland.

Historically, the US purchased Louisiana in 1803 for 15 million dollars and Alaska in 1867 for 7.2 million dollars. Today, it is said that the amount needed for Greenland could range from 700 billion to 4.4 trillion dollars.

The island's natural resources, including minerals and energy sources, raise its value to a very high level. Financially, buying Greenland is not a big problem for the US.

The country's annual defense budget is 850 billion dollars, and its gross domestic product is 31 trillion dollars. However, the legal and political aspects of the issue are much more complicated.

Greenland is an autonomous territory within Denmark, and such a deal cannot be made without the consent of its population. Among the local people, there is strong opposition to joining the US.

They prefer to become an independent state. Greenland is strategically very important for the US.

The island is rich in resources necessary for modern technologies and environmentally clean energy. There are many minerals here, such as graphite, nickel, gold, copper, iron ore, and rare earth elements.

However, the extremely cold climate conditions and underdeveloped infrastructure make it difficult to utilize these resources. Trump's idea of buying Greenland was aimed not only at expanding territory but also at establishing control over future technologies.

However, in the 21st century, the practice of buying territories can be perceived by the international community as colonialism. Therefore, this issue remains complex not only economically but also politically and ethically.

The likelihood of Denmark and the people of Greenland accepting such proposals is very low.
