The US criticized Canada's decision on Chinese electric vehicles

US officials sharply criticized Canada's decision to allow electric vehicles manufactured in China into its market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In their opinion, this decision could have negative consequences for Canada. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called this decision a mistake and emphasized that Canada may regret it in the future.
Although Canada imposed a 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles in 2024, it recently permitted the import of up to 49,000 vehicles. US officials are concerned that this situation could increase the influence of Chinese products in North America.
At the same time, they firmly emphasize that these vehicles will not be allowed into the US market. According to US Trade Representative Jamison Greer, this decision will not directly harm the US automotive industry.
He stated that these vehicles will only be allowed into Canada and will not be permitted to enter US territory. Additionally, the safety and information system requirements for vehicles in the US make it difficult for Chinese electric vehicles to enter the market.
US politicians and lawmakers consider Chinese electric vehicles a threat to national security. They believe it is important to protect the US automotive industry.
For this reason, Canada's decision is being criticized by the US, and this issue is expected to be discussed in the near future.
