Europe is making plans for Greenland: Preparing a response to the US
Donald Trump's statements about bringing Greenland under US control have prompted European countries to take serious measures. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to The Economist, European leaders are considering three main plans to preserve the island's sovereignty and resist Washington's pressure. The first option is to ease tensions.

This strategy aims to reduce Trump's concern that "if we don't take it, Russia or China will." A working group led by Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen will meet on January 18 to discuss this issue.

Germany, meanwhile, is proposing to establish an "Arctic guardian" mission within NATO. The second option is to hold back and take countermeasures.

If negotiations fail, Europe is ready to apply economic and military pressure. For example, steps such as halting trade agreements with the US, increasing control over American technology companies, or closing US military bases in Europe are being discussed.

Additionally, the European Council is proposing to deploy military units to Greenland on a rotational basis. The third option is to buy time and divert Trump's attention to other issues.

Experts speculate that Trump may focus more on domestic politics or be distracted by external conflicts, such as problems related to Iran or Venezuela. There is also a possibility that his tough rhetoric on Greenland is a tactic aimed at forcing Denmark to concede in resource extraction.

The Danish government is currently allocating additional funds for regional defense. Moreover, European countries are considering imposing sanctions against US companies exploiting Greenland's resources without local government permission.

In your opinion, how might the deployment of European troops to Greenland affect relations between the US and NATO?
