Europe and India reach free trade agreement
The long-standing negotiations between the European Union and India have finally yielded results, and the parties have reached a free trade agreement. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This agreement serves to strengthen bilateral economic relations and develop strategic cooperation. According to the agreement, the European Union will reduce or eliminate tariffs on 97 percent of products exported to India, while India will gain preferential access for 99 percent of its products.

At the same time, the parties had to make concessions on certain issues. For example, tariffs on European cars will remain at 40 percent, and India will gradually eliminate tariffs on some industrial goods.

This agreement is an important step not only for developing trade but also for taking economic cooperation to a new level. The significance of the agreement is evident not only in economic benefits but also in shaping global strategic cooperation.

Europe and India are striving to increase interdependence and diversify supply chains by strengthening economic ties. This is especially important against the backdrop of economic and geopolitical changes in the modern world.

For India, this agreement provides an opportunity to develop high technologies, manufacturing, and service sectors. For Europe, it creates access to India’s vast market as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in standards and supply chains.

As a result of the agreement, the European Union plans not only to save significantly on tariff payments but also to increase export volumes. Additionally, the parties have agreed to develop cooperation in areas such as technology, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and combating climate change.

The strategic partnership between Europe and India covers not only economic but also security and defense sectors. This agreement creates new opportunities not only to strengthen economic cooperation but also to collaborate on geoeconomic issues.

At the same time, the parties need to consider potential challenges they may face in implementing the agreement. If fully implemented, it will bring economic cooperation between Europe and India to a new level and contribute to global economic security.
