Tajikistan border guards announced that they neutralized three smugglers who illegally crossed the border from Afghanistan and showed armed resistance. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by podrobno.uz. According to the press service of the State National Security Committee Border Troops, the incident occurred on the evening of January 29 near the “Bahorak” border post of the 0341 military unit located in the Shamsiddin Shohin district.
Five Afghan citizens illegally crossed the border through the Badakhshan region. When they tried to retreat, they opened fire on the border guard patrol.
As a result of the return fire, three offenders were eliminated, and two fled back to Afghan territory. At the scene, the bodies of those killed, three Kalashnikov rifles, four magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition, a boat, and large bundles containing narcotics – hashish and opium – were found.
The Border Troops stated that they continue measures to protect the state border and prevent violations related to smuggling, and that the situation is under control. An investigation is underway regarding this incident.
Several criminal cases have been initiated concerning the incident. These include charges related to illegal trafficking of narcotics, smuggling, illegal border crossing, and possession of weapons.
It is worth noting that earlier reports also mentioned the prevention of an armed attack on the Tajikistan–Afghanistan border. At that time, three members of a terrorist group attempted to enter Tajikistan and were eliminated during a special operation.
