Africa Cup displayed in Senegal prison

The Africa Cup of Nations trophy continues its journey across Senegal. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event is not just a simple exhibition but is organized as a tour with a specific purpose and meaning. The next destination of the cup surprised many: it was taken to Rebeyss prison, the largest and busiest correctional facility in Dakar.
According to the organizers, the main goal of this visit is to bring the trophy closer to every person and to convey a sense of national pride and unity to the wider public. For this reason, prisoners were also given the opportunity to see and even touch the continent's most prestigious football trophy.
This initiative is said to be supported by the Senegal Football Federation. However, this decision has sparked various opinions within society.
Videos and photos taken inside the prison have widely circulated on social media. Among them are scenes showing inmates reaching out to the trophy or watching it from behind bars.
In society, some perceive this situation as a humanitarian gesture, while others criticize it, raising the question, "How appropriate is it to bring such a trophy into a prison?" It is known that the Senegal national team won this trophy by defeating Morocco 1-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations final in January.
Since then, the cup has been taken across the country and displayed as a symbol of national pride and unity. Undoubtedly, this trophy is not just a simple award for Senegal but a significant symbol aimed at uniting the team and society.
However, the issue of where and under what conditions it should be displayed remains controversial.
