Unexpected Changes in the Security System in Kyrgyzstan

Recent political events in Kyrgyzstan have attracted the attention of many. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, the unexpected dismissal of Kamchibek Tashiev, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, has raised various questions and interpretations. Tashiev was known not only as a high-ranking official but also as a key figure in the state security system.
On February 10, by decree of President Sadyr Japarov, Tashiev's powers were terminated ahead of schedule. Following this decision, it was announced that changes were also made in other high-ranking positions within the committee system.
This is seen as a sign of deeper political processes rather than a simple personnel change. Official statements explain the decision as aimed at strengthening unity in society and preventing divisions.
However, political analysts associate this move with a recentralization process within the security system. According to some experts, the reorganization of the security system into new structures directly subordinate to the president and the replacement of influential officials are intended to strengthen national security.
At the same time, there are opinions that this process aims to increase control over the security elite by the authorities. Political analysts believe that an increasing degree of independence among security system representatives could pose a strategic threat to the president.
For this reason, it is not unlikely that the authorities are striving to keep centers of influence within the security system under their control. After the constitutional changes in 2021, the issue of the presidential term has again become an important topic in Kyrgyzstan.
It is said that open discussions on this matter could negatively affect regime stability. As a result, the government is trying to preemptively eliminate any sources of instability.
So far, official information only confirms the termination of Tashiev's powers. However, many questions remain about the political maneuvers behind this decision.
The biggest question is what the next steps will be and whether these changes will serve to strengthen unity in the country or initiate a new political struggle. These questions remain open for now.
