Uzbeks in Turkey are falling victim to fraud

Uzbek citizens living or working in Turkey are often becoming victims of crimes related to fraud and human trafficking. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was provided by Sherzod Abdunazarov, the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul. According to the Consul General, the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul includes not only the city of Istanbul but also the provinces of Aydin, Balikesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Izmir, Kocaeli, as well as the countries of Bulgaria and Romania.
The diplomat emphasized that the crime rate committed by Uzbeks in these areas is significantly lower compared to representatives of other nationalities. At the same time, due to the large number of Uzbeks in Turkey and the 90-day visa-free regime, there are occasional cases of individuals who have committed crimes in Uzbekistan and fled to Turkey.
Additionally, problems related to citizens living without official permits are also observed. It is reported that among the victims, fraud and human trafficking are the most common crimes.
In particular, it has been noted that among those falling victim to human trafficking, there are many attempts to illegally enter the USA and European countries. Furthermore, statistical data on attempts to cross into Syrian territory through Turkey have recently decreased significantly.
