Elon Musk will pay 500 billion dollars in taxes over his lifetime

American entrepreneur, SpaceX founder, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk attracted attention again with an unexpected calculation in his social media post. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, the amount of tax he will pay over his lifetime could exceed 500 billion dollars. Musk emphasized that this figure includes not only annual tax payments but also obligations related to inheritance and property.
In other words, this is not just a one-year payment but a huge sum accumulated over a lifetime. According to reports, in February 2026, Musk merged SpaceX with the AI-focused company xAI.
Some sources noted that Musk's wealth significantly increased after this deal. Additionally, in January, Musk humorously mentioned that he paid so much tax in one year that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) computers stopped working.
He explained this situation by saying, "the software was updated because the numbers got too large." Musk's statements on one hand show that he is fulfilling his tax obligations to the government, and on the other hand, they highlight that immense wealth may exceed the capacities of state systems.
How long the discussions around his words will continue remains unknown for now.
