Greece Will Not Participate in Military Operations Near the Strait of Hormuz

The Greek government has officially announced that there are no plans for the country to participate in any military operations that may be carried out near the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was provided by Pavlos Marinakis, the government's official representative, at a press conference held in Athens. Journalists had asked whether Greece might send its warships to the region under pressure from the United States.
In this regard, Pavlos Marinakis emphasized that the country's leadership has not yet placed this issue on its agenda. Greece consistently maintains a cautious and balanced approach in foreign policy.
The government's main objective is to avoid direct involvement in conflicts arising in the region and to preserve peace. At the same time, officials confirmed that Athens is actively participating in the European Union's Operation Aspides mission in the Red Sea.
Within the framework of this cooperation, Greece has been taking necessary measures together with its Italian counterparts to ensure the safety of merchant vessels. It was noted that this mission in the Red Sea has specific geographic boundaries, is limited to that area only, and is not directly related to the Strait of Hormuz.
Therefore, it would be incorrect to interpret Greece's activities in the Red Sea as involvement in potential conflicts arising from relations with Iran. The government representative once again clearly stated the country's position.
Greece does not plan to join any military confrontations that may occur with Iran under any circumstances. Thus, as the situation in the region continues to escalate, Greece remains committed to preferring diplomatic means and caution in its policy.
This approach demonstrates the country's stability and independence in foreign affairs. Athens makes its decisions not hastily, but based on thorough analysis and strategic calculations.
In the future as well, Greece will continue its efforts aimed at safeguarding regional peace while protecting its territorial interests.
