Melania Trump and Lukashenko Discussed the Fate of Ukrainian Children

Unexpected yet humanitarian details have emerged on the global political stage. Zamin.uz reports on this.
The main topic of communication between the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko was the most delicate issue: the fate of children. The Zamin publication presents its readers with details of these important tasks and a secret letter.
Melania Trump carried out a unique humanitarian mission during her meeting with the President of Belarus. She asked the Belarusian leader to discuss the issue of Ukrainian children who remained caught in the whirlwind of military conflicts and moved into Russian territory when he meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It was precisely here that the necessity of placing children's fate above all else became evident. Lukashenko revealed during his communication with the American delegation that Melania Trump had presented him with a list of missing children.
The Belarusian leader promised to personally hand over this list to Vladimir Putin and explore possibilities for finding the children and returning them to their families. In her appeal, Melania Trump emphasized that the innocence of children stands above any political conflicts and restoring smiles to their faces is a global duty.
Recall that in August 2025, during the Putin-Trump meeting held in Alaska, the First Lady also handed a letter to the Russian leader. These efforts did not go in vain, as in October 2025, eight Ukrainian children were able to reunite with their relatives.
Additionally, a special communication system was established for constant cooperation on the issue of children in conflict zones. The Russian side is also participating in this process.
Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the president, denied accusations regarding the abduction of children, stating they were taken out of dangerous areas to save their lives. In February of this year, four children were returned to Ukraine, and one was returned to his family in Russia.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again confirmed that the process of reuniting families is ongoing and expressed readiness to work with international organizations in this regard. Melania Trump's activism is serving as a soft power tool in the complex relations between the two states.
In your opinion, do such humanitarian steps contribute to easing interstate relations? How would you rate the cooperation of politicians in the path toward family reunification?
