Lukashenko and Kim Jong Un signed a friendship treaty

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a treaty on friendship and cooperation in Pyongyang. Zamin.uz reported this.
North Korea's KCNA news agency provided information on this matter on March 26. The Lukashenko administration emphasized that this agreement is a significant document marking a new stage in relations between Belarus and North Korea.
The Dw.com website also reported on this event. The parties signed several memoranda and cooperation agreements in the fields of education, healthcare, and agriculture.
According to reports, Kim expressed North Korea's solidarity with Belarus to Lukashenko and stated full support against cases assessed as illegal pressure from Western countries. Lukashenko, in turn, emphasized that Minsk and Pyongyang share the same viewpoint on major international issues.
Symbolic gifts were exchanged during the visit. According to KCNA, Kim presented Lukashenko with a sword and a vase featuring his portrait.
In response, Lukashenko presented Kim with an automatic weapon manufactured in Belarus and stated that it could be used if enemies appeared. Lukashenko arrived in North Korea on March 25 for his first official visit.
According to Reuters agency, Belarus and North Korea have supported Russia during the war in Ukraine. North Korea has been accused of sending ammunition and troops to Russia, while Belarus allowed the use of its territory during the invasion and subsequently agreed to host Russian tactical nuclear weapons.
Valery Tsepkalo, a representative of the Belarusian opposition, emphasized in an interview with Reuters that this meeting is primarily symbolic and aimed at demonstrating the deep isolation of both states on the international stage.
