Israel launched widespread strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

The situation in the Middle East has entered another period of sharp escalation. Zamin.uz reported this.
Despite the temporary truce terms reached with Iran, military clashes in Lebanon are intensifying. Recent bloody events in the region are causing concern within the international community.
On Wednesday, Israeli air forces launched large-scale strikes on Lebanese territory. According to representatives of the Israeli army, in just ten minutes, more than a hundred command centers and military objects belonging to the Hezbollah movement located in the capital Beirut, as well as in the eastern and southern regions of the country, were targeted.
Nearly fifty fighter jets participated in this operation. Lebanese security services confirmed that more than one hundred and fifty airstrikes were recorded across the country.
These intense attacks have led to a humanitarian tragedy. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, eighty-nine people were killed as a result of the destruction, and more than seven hundred citizens sustained various degrees of physical injuries.
The number of victims may increase, as search and rescue operations are ongoing and there is a high probability that many people remain under the rubble. More than a hundred ambulances from the Lebanese Red Cross society are working tirelessly, but traffic jams on the roads in the capital are making it difficult to transport the injured to hospitals.
Notably, these attacks are occurring against the backdrop of the two-week ceasefire agreement made between the USA and Iran. However, both the Israeli government and US President Donald Trump have clearly stated that this peace does not apply to the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized that military operations will not stop until the threat to the population of the northern regions is eliminated. Tehran, meanwhile, is expressing a sharp reaction to these events.
Iranian officials are considering the possibility of withdrawing from the agreement made with the USA due to the attacks in Lebanon. As a sign of protest, ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz has been temporarily suspended.
As a reminder, the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel escalated in March after the group launched nearly six thousand rockets and drones at northern Israel. The current situation further increases the risk of a large-scale war in the region.
