Death sentence passed on Uzbek nationals

Several years ago in Malaysia, three Uzbek citizens were sentenced to death for allegedly smuggling synthetic narcotics, Zamin.uz reported.
This was stated by Oktam Suvonov, an employee of the State Security Service. According to him, the incident occurred at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Two women and one of their acquaintances were detained during inspection with a large quantity of synthetic narcotic substance, which is internationally prohibited.
According to reports, the incident began when one of the women’s daughters, living abroad, offered her mother a free trip to Malaysia. The woman then invited her sister and another acquaintance to join her on the trip.
Before the flight, an unknown person handed them empty suitcases. Upon arrival, no one was waiting for them.
This raised suspicion among airport security officers. During the inspection, it was discovered that each suitcase contained four kilograms of narcotic substance.
Thus, the citizens, unaware of their involvement, were drawn into criminal activity as drug couriers and sentenced to the harshest penalty under Malaysian law. Oktam Suvonov said he later visited Malaysia and met with the convicted individuals.
During the meeting, one of the women told him: “You are probably the last compatriot I will see in my life.” As he emphasized, these words have remained etched in his memory.
