Putin Congratulates US on 250th Anniversary of Independence

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Donald Trump to congratulate him and the American people on the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence, Zamin.uz reported.
The conversation, which lasted nearly an hour and a half, went beyond mere holiday greetings. The two leaders discussed the armed conflict in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, diplomatic mediation efforts, and prospects for future cooperation.
According to an official statement from the Kremlin, Putin highlighted Russia’s historical role in the formation of American statehood and recalled the allied ties between the two nations during World War II. He also praised the large-scale celebrations held in honor of the United States’ semiquincentennial.
At the end of the call, Putin reminded Trump that his earlier invitation to visit Russia remains open. According to Yury Ushakov, Putin’s aide, the phone conversation lasted one hour and twenty-five minutes.
This marks the fourth phone talk between Putin and Trump since the beginning of 2026. The Kremlin described the exchange as mutually respectful and constructive.
One of the key topics was the situation in Ukraine. Trump expressed readiness to help end hostilities quickly and resolve the crisis.
During the conversation, it was noted that U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would continue their mediation efforts, and that another visit to Moscow could be arranged if necessary. Russia reiterated its preference for a political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict, while standing firm on its core demands.
At the same time, the sides exchanged opposing statements regarding the situation on the battlefield, particularly around Konstantinovka. The presidents also reviewed developments in the Middle East, including U.S.-Iran relations.
Putin emphasized that reaching a mutual understanding would help ease tensions in the region. Russia signaled its willingness to assist in stabilizing the situation, and Trump expressed appreciation for these proposals.
The discussion also touched, in a symbolic manner, on cooperation in space and sports.
