Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed full support for the peace initiatives proposed by US President Donald Trump to resolve the Ukraine crisis, according to Zamin.uz.

As reported by the Milliyet newspaper, the Turkish leader shared his views during the NATO summit taking place in Ankara. Erdogan emphasized in his speech that Turkey is actively utilizing all existing diplomatic channels with Russia to prevent further escalation of the situation.

The Turkish president positively assessed Donald Trump’s stance on establishing stability in Ukraine, expressing support for Trump’s efforts to achieve peace and affirming Ankara’s willingness to assist in identifying Ukraine’s most urgent needs.

This statement came amid the ongoing NATO summit, once again demonstrating Ankara’s intention to maintain close dialogue with Washington on the Ukraine issue while preserving its communication channels with Russia.

According to Erdogan, Turkey will continue to pursue paths of mutual understanding not only with Western countries but also with Russia in resolving the conflict. This reflects the Turkish government’s intention to maintain its role as a genuine mediator in the Ukraine matter.

It is worth noting that Turkey has previously sought to provide a conducive environment for negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv. The NATO summit held in Ankara on July 7–8 aimed to strengthen relations between allied European nations and the US President.

The meeting also included participation from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, with Kyiv expecting additional military assistance from the alliance. Meanwhile, proposals put forward by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of June were not overlooked.

At that time, the Russian leader spoke about the possibility of limiting military actions to certain territories. Today, Turkey’s influence within NATO is growing.

Some public media outlets have reported that Ankara intends to assume certain responsibilities of the US within the alliance. Erdogan’s recent statements indicate that Turkey is pursuing a balanced policy—supporting Washington’s initiatives on Ukraine while maintaining dialogue with Moscow.

This approach is being regarded as an important step toward establishing peace in the region.
