Two drone attacks on Kriviy Rix shopping center — 15 killed, 130 injured

On August 21, a major shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, was struck twice by drone attacks. This is reported by One.uz.
The first strike occurred at 15:39, causing a powerful fire in the building. Eighteen minutes later, at 15:57, while rescue and medical assistance operations were ongoing, a second drone strike hit the site.
This repeated attack increased the number of casualties among rescuers and civilians. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and local authorities, 15 civilians were killed and 130 injured in the attacks, with varying degrees of severity.
Among the injured are 23 children and 29 people in serious condition, including five children. The attack tactic follows a “double-tap” pattern — where a second strike is carried out after the first, targeting those who come to assist.
According to Oleksandr Huhan, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, approximately 60 strikes were carried out over the past day across four districts of the region using artillery, aerial bombs, and drones. These strikes caused serious damage to multi-apartment buildings, private homes, and vehicles.
The current casualty toll and extent of damage are still being assessed. This incident once again highlights the dangerous nature of repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure.
The healthcare system, emergency services, and local authorities continue to provide assistance to the affected, deliver medical aid to the injured, and support families. The international community must focus on strengthening the protection of civilian objects, enforcing political and economic measures, and clarifying military-legal responses to prevent such attacks.
This event is not just about numbers — behind each figure lies a human life, a family, and hope. Preserving peace and security must be the central goal of all our efforts.
