Fransiya Usmonova proposed removing [the name] from the sanctions list

The French government has come forward with a proposal to lift sanctions imposed by the European Union against entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov. One.uz reports this.

Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that this decision was not a personal initiative of Paris, but rather the result of requests from international partners. The Minister emphasized that removing Usmanov from the sanctions list will not weaken the overall pressure against Moscow and will have no impact on the general situation.

EU sanctions policy to be intensified The diplomat noted that the European Union's sanction policy is, on the contrary, being further strengthened. Instead of updating sanctions every six months, it is proposed to extend them for a three-year period.

Barro expressed regret over the excessive noise surrounding the removal of just one individual, given that there are nearly three thousand individuals and companies on the sanctions list. In his view, it is incorrect to create a stir only about Usmanov when hundreds of people were added to the list at his own initiative.
