Putin is ready to cooperate with the US on metal resources
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that there is a possibility of cooperation with the US in the field of rare earth metals mining and aluminum production. According to him, there are plans to build a hydroelectric power station in the Krasnoyarsk region and establish aluminum production facilities.

"We can consider cooperating with American companies in this area. For example, there were plans during the Soviet era to build a new hydroelectric power station in the Krasnoyarsk region and establish additional aluminum production facilities," said Putin.

He emphasized that this project could have "investment potential."

"According to preliminary calculations, it could be valued at approximately 15 billion dollars at today's prices. But we need to think about this," said the Russian leader.

Speaking about rare earth metals in Russia, Putin mentioned that the country is currently not doing enough to exploit them.

"Rare earth metals are a very important component for modern economic sectors, they are extremely important resources. We are currently doing little in this area," said Putin.

The US wants to utilize Ukrainian resources

Washington has proposed to sign an agreement on mining valuable minerals in Ukraine, but President Vladimir Zelensky refused to sign the document. According to him, there are aspects of the agreement that do not reflect Ukraine's interests.

The Trump administration had proposed that Ukraine give 50% of its non-state resources to the US, but this is still under discussion. Zelensky's advisors have urged him to sign the agreement, but the president has refused to endorse a document that "the Ukrainians' 10 generations will pay for."

The issue of cooperation between Russia and the US regarding mineral resources is still under discussion. Putin emphasized that there are sufficient metals in Russia that the US is interested in. At the same time, Ukraine does not currently see it as advisable to sign an agreement regarding its resources.
