The flooding in Texas ended in a serious tragedy. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to official information, the number of fatalities due to heavy rain and flooding of the Guadalupe River in Kerr County has reached 104. In recent days, especially after July 4, there has been a sharp increase in the number of victims.
Kerr County is considered the most affected area. Here, 84 people, including 28 children, lost their lives.
Approximately 50,000 people currently reside in the area affected by the flooding. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on social media that all necessary resources have been mobilized and all measures are being taken to address the consequences of the disaster. U.S. President Donald Trump officially declared Kerr County a disaster area.
At the same time, Republicans criticized the federal National Weather Service. They pointed out that during the Trump administration, the budget for this service was cut, and there were insufficient accurate forecasts and warnings before the natural disaster.
Experts believe that the increase in population and lack of infrastructure exacerbated the effects of the flooding. Assistance and additional resources from the state and local authorities are expected for the population affected by natural disasters in Texas.
The situation in the area is being closely monitored, and efforts to address the consequences of the disaster are ongoing.
