On July 4, 2024, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut won again at Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, traditionally held at Coney Island in New York City, USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This contest is one of the most famous competitions in the world for eating hot dogs. According to Reuters, the 41-year-old champion from Indiana consumed 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes, reclaiming the "Mustard Belt."
Chestnut returned to the competition after being banned for a year. Last year, he was disqualified for collaborating with Impossible Foods, a company that produces plant-based products.
Regarding his return, he said: "Many people expressed that they missed my participation. I promised to make them happy and wanted to live up to their expectations." In the contest, Patrick Bertoletti took second place by eating 46 hot dogs.
Among women, the reigning champion Miki Sudo ate 33 hot dogs, while Michelle Lesco took second place with 22.75 hot dogs. Although Miki Sudo's result was significantly lower than last year's 51 hot dogs, she said: "I was a bit weak at the start, but despite the difficulties, I continued my effort and did not stop."
This competition has been held annually on July 4 since 1980, in celebration of the United States' Independence Day. Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest has become a national tradition in the USA and is followed with great interest worldwide.
