An unprecedented event occurred in the defense sector of the country in Kyiv. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Two Chinese citizens were arrested while attempting to smuggle secret documents related to the production of "Neptune" missiles out of Ukraine. This was stated by the country's security service in an official statement.
According to the information, one of the suspects is a 24-year-old former student of a technical university in Kyiv. Although he was expelled from studies in 2023, he remained in Kyiv for various reasons and attempted to gather classified information related to Ukraine's defense industry in recent months.
His father regularly visited Ukraine to coordinate activities. According to special services, the young Chinese man tried to persuade a local citizen involved in arms production in Ukraine to provide him with secret information.
However, security officials monitored his actions and arrested him while he was handing over the documents. At the same time, an operation was conducted against his father, who was also detained.
According to investigative data, these documents were planned to be delivered to Chinese special services. During the investigation, the suspects' phones were confiscated, and important evidence related to espionage activities was found on them.
The official statement mentioned that if the charges are confirmed, they could face up to 15 years of imprisonment. This incident marks the first such case in Ukraine since the war with Russia began in 2022.
According to Reuters, Chinese citizens have not been arrested for such crimes before. The Chinese embassy in Kyiv has not yet commented on this matter.
The "Neptune" missile is considered one of the strategic weapons of the Ukrainian armed forces. It can fly at a speed of 900 kilometers per hour and cover a distance of up to 300 kilometers.
In 2022, a missile of this type played a crucial role in the destruction of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser "Moskva." This incident highlights the need for enhanced control and protective measures in Ukraine's security and defense system.
Any new technology, especially innovations in missile and arms manufacturing, has always attracted the attention of global intelligence centers. Currently, all attention is focused on the Ukrainian security service and the judicial system.
How this case will conclude and its impact on international relations will become clear over time. In the modern world, competition for secret information and technologies is intensifying year by year.
It is unknown what other events may occur in the future, but this incident in Ukraine will remain a warning and lesson for everyone.
