According to some sources, although the exact name of the victim has not been disclosed, the BBC and former military officer Roman Chervinskiy confirm him as Colonel Ivan Ivanovich Voronich of the UXX. Chervinskiy emphasized that Voronich was active in one of the special directions posing a serious threat to Russia.
He wrote on social media that this loss is a personal heavy blow for him, stating that Voronich was not only a highly qualified specialist but also a devoted patriot. It is also speculated that the attack was carried out by a saboteur sent by the enemy.
