US President Donald Trump announced that serious economic sanctions against Russia could be imposed within 50 days. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that this measure will be implemented if no positive changes are observed in the agreement regarding Ukraine. According to Trump, if Moscow does not take any steps to improve the situation in Ukraine, the US will impose 100 percent import duties on goods coming from Russia and its trading partners.
The American president stressed that he would be forced to use these measures only if efforts for peace do not yield results. He also stated that the United States is interested in establishing long-term stability and peace in Ukraine.
He expressed that he is not fully convinced of the necessity to adopt a separate bill on sanctions against Russia, but added that Congressional approval is not required for the imposition of secondary tariffs. Additionally, the US has been increasing arms supplies to Ukraine in recent days, which indicates that Washington has not deviated from its policy of supporting Kyiv.
In conclusion, if negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv do not accelerate, the Russian economy may face new pressures in the coming weeks.
