On April 1st, BMW jokingly deceived its social media followers and published images of a nonexistent crossover named M2 Dakar, according to Carscoops.
The M2 Dakar is actually a non-existent car that BMW presented in the form of an off-road coupe designed for rallies. It featured wide wings, ventilation holes, special bumpers, and protective plates for the underside.
The coupe's roof section included space for luggage, spare parts, a spare wheel, and a fuel canister. The engine remained unchanged: a 3-liter, 480 horsepower (550 Nm) inline-six, just like in the current M2.
The restyling of the BMW 2 Series was presented last summer. The new version reaches 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds with the automatic transmission and 4.2 seconds with the manual. The acceleration to 200 km/h has improved by 0.6 seconds (12.9 and 13.7 seconds). The maximum speed is 250 km/h (285 km/h with a paid option).
The BMW 2 Series is produced at the factory in Mexico.
