FIFA proposed a new rule against time-wasting

FIFA has proposed a new regulation to combat deliberate time-wasting and slowing down the pace of play in football. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the proposal, players who are injured and receive medical assistance on the field must wait at least one minute before returning to the game. This proposal will be discussed at the annual meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB).
If approved, the rule will be incorporated into the international football laws. The main goal of the regulation is to take measures against artificial time-wasting during matches.
Previously, FIFA tested a two-minute waiting rule, but it faced serious criticism. It was emphasized that losing a player for two minutes, especially at crucial moments, could pose a significant risk to the team.
Therefore, the one-minute option was adopted. The new rule will not apply to all situations.
If a player's injury results from a rough action by an opponent, or if the injured player is a goalkeeper, or if the player who needs assistance is about to take a penalty, such players will not leave the field. However, this regulation also raises certain concerns.
Some experts point out that even genuinely injured players might be unfairly penalized. Nevertheless, the new rule is expected to become an effective measure against artificial time-wasting.
Because this will increase the cost of deliberately delaying the game during play. If IFAB approves this proposal, there will be significant changes in the football rules.
From now on, medical assistance on the field may become not only a means of treating injuries but also a factor influencing tactical decisions. Source: one.uz
