Production of Volkswagen brand vehicles to start in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's automotive industry is stepping into a new phase of development. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In the near future, production of automobiles under the globally renowned Volkswagen brand is planned to be launched in the cities of Tashkent and Angren. This initiative is regarded as an important strategic step toward strengthening the national economy, enhancing the domestic consumer market, and boosting export potential.
The project is planned to be implemented in several stages. Initially, in the capital, the assembly of vehicles from large kits will be organized.
In this phase, major components of automobiles will be imported in ready form and assembled by local specialists. This approach will help quickly establish the production system, improve employee skills according to international standards, and enable rapid delivery of models that meet market demand.
In the next stage, the project's scale will expand further, and full-cycle production facilities will be established in the Angren Free Economic Zone. This means not just assembly, but also the localization of component manufacturing within the country—i.e., increasing the level of localization.
As a result, product costs will decrease, the production chain will become more robust, and opportunities for adopting modern technologies will increase. The deepening of localization will bring numerous benefits to the economy.
Specifically, new jobs will be created, local enterprises in related sectors will receive additional orders, and industrial efficiency will rise. Most importantly, in the future, Volkswagen vehicles manufactured in Uzbekistan will not only be supplied to the domestic market but will also have broad opportunities for export to neighboring countries.
At the same time, the launch of operations at major automobile plants such as Foton and JAC is expected in the country this year. Such changes will foster a healthy competitive environment in the domestic market.
With greater choice for consumers, the quality of service will also rise to a new level. In summary, the launch of Volkswagen production in Tashkent and Angren is not merely an industrial project—it is a significant step toward transforming Uzbekistan into a regional automotive hub.
This development will contribute to strengthening the country's influence on the international stage and ensuring economic stability.
