Chery company has founded the new Emta brand for the Japanese market

Chery, the owner of the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, aims to conquer Japan's complex and unique automotive market, Zamin.uz reports.
To achieve this, the Chinese automotive giant has established partnerships with four prestigious Asian companies and founded a new electric vehicle brand called Emta. In this project, Chery will act as the primary technical partner, providing platforms and components for the new vehicles.
International publications are reporting on this development. The first model produced under the Emta brand will be a compact city car with a length of 3.4 meters, designed to meet Japan's strict standards.
The model, whose name remains a secret for now, is expected to be equipped with Chery's electric transmissions and Gotion batteries. The new electric vehicle is anticipated to compete seriously with popular models that have a strong presence in the Japanese market, such as the Honda N-Box, Nissan Sakura, Daihatsu Tanto, and Suzuki Hustler.
In terms of technical specifications, the new compact car is presumed to be similar to the QQ Ice Cream, Chery's smallest model in the Chinese market. According to reports, the car will be equipped with a 27-horsepower motor and a battery allowing for a range of approximately 160 kilometers on a single charge.
Sales will be handled by Autobacs Seven, while the Anest company will be responsible for quality control. In the initial stage, these vehicles will be assembled at the Jiangsu Yueda plant in China.
If the new brand's market debut is successful, there are plans to organize the production process directly within Japan in the future. Additionally, by 2029, three more new models are planned under the Emta brand, including a small crossover and multi-purpose family cars.
Currently, there are no plans to expand the Emta brand outside of Japan. Chery is participating in this project primarily as a shareholder and technological partner.
Thus, following BYD, representatives of the Chinese automotive industry are striving to strengthen their position in the compact car segment, which constitutes a significant portion of the Japanese market.
