"Seat" company introduces new electric vehicles and hybrid models

Seat plans to introduce its new electric vehicles as production costs decline, Zamin.uz reported.
According to company management, the brand will not be limited to simply updating Cupra models, but will eventually have its own distinct model lineup, international media report.
Seat unveiled updated versions of the Ibiza supermini and Arona crossover after a long hiatus. This is the brand's first major investment since the fourth-generation Leon model was launched in 2020.
New hybrid powertrains for these models are also expected to be introduced next year. Currently, Seat's lineup is mainly limited to three gasoline models due to the discontinuation of off-road models such as the Ateca and Tarraco.
While the company is directing its main resources toward the rapidly growing Cupra brand, CEO Markus Haupt emphasized that the Seat brand remains an important heritage for the company and that investment in it will continue. According to management, preserving the brand's unique characteristics and combining them with modern technologies remains a key task.
According to Haupt, by 2029–2030, as environmental requirements tighten, more serious discussions about the brand's future will begin. Currently, the high cost of electric vehicle technical foundations remains a major obstacle for volume brands like Seat, but the situation could change as costs decrease.
The company is awaiting the emergence of more affordable technologies, which would enable the production of electric vehicles aimed at the mass market. Seat and Cupra brands target completely different customer segments and market positions.
Seat focuses primarily on internal combustion engine and off-road vehicles. This is especially important for markets outside Europe, where the electrification process is progressing relatively slowly.
Thus, the company aims to simultaneously preserve traditional vehicles and gradually transition to new technologies. In the future, electric vehicles produced under the Seat brand are expected to stand out for their practicality and off-road capability.
