Starting from June 1, 2024, a penalty points system for violating traffic rules has been implemented in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Upl.uz.
If a driver accumulates 12 penalty points within a year, their driver's license will be revoked. The press service of the traffic safety department warned drivers and reminded them of which violations will incur points.
For example, exceeding the speed limit by more than 60 km/h will result in 2 points, and leaving the accident scene with a violation will also incur 2 points. Increasing speed from 40 to 60 km/h will result in 1.5 points, and participating in dangerous group movements will also incur 1.5 points.
Driving a vehicle without permission, moving without a state number, or exceeding the speed limit by 20 to 40 km/h will result in 1 point. Running a red light, entering the opposite lane, creating an accident situation, passing from the wrong place, and violating railway crossing rules will also incur 1 point.
Additionally, tinting windows, exceeding the speed limit by less than 20 km/h, obstructing emergency services, and transporting passengers without internal affairs personnel will incur 0.5 points, while technical malfunctions or unauthorized modifications will incur 0.3 points, and unnecessary signaling or incorrect parking will incur 0.2 points. Representatives of the department emphasized that to be deprived of driving rights, it is sufficient to violate stopping rules 60 times, run a red light 12 times, or participate in dangerous group movements 8 times.
This system aims to quickly identify persistent violations and increase drivers' responsibility. Drivers are advised to strictly adhere to traffic rules.
