According to the latest report from the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, Uzbekistan's automobile market is undergoing significant changes. This was reported by Upl.uz.
In the first six months of 2025, the sales of passenger cars decreased by 23 percent compared to the previous year, amounting to approximately 446 thousand units. The main factor influencing the overall negative trend in the market was the decline in trading activity in the secondary market.
This market constitutes the majority of automobile sales in the country. Experts emphasize that the automobile market has entered a stabilization phase after a period of rapid growth.
Nevertheless, data from June indicates that consumer demand is beginning to recover. In the first month of summer, the automobile market showed some revival – approximately 80 thousand passenger cars were sold in June, which is 3 percent more than in May.
In particular, sales in the new car segment increased by 10 percent, which means an additional 2.6 thousand cars compared to May. Locally produced cars played a leading role in this growth.
Sales of cars assembled in Uzbekistan reached 23.7 thousand units, with a monthly growth of 15.6 percent. This indicates an increase in consumer interest in local products.
On the other hand, a decline was observed in the new imported car segment. In June, sales of foreign-made cars decreased by 12.6 percent, falling to approximately 4 thousand units.
Despite a half-year decline, the secondary market maintained stability in June. With over 52 thousand cars sold, it approached the figures from May and recorded only a slight decrease of 0.4 percent.
In annual comparison, the figures for June 2025 increased by 1.3 percent compared to June 2024, indicating the market's resilience. The electric vehicle market stands out with its positive results.
In June, 5.1 thousand electric vehicles were sold, which is 1.7 percent less than in May, but the total of 28.8 thousand units sold over six months is 62.6 percent more than in the same period of 2024. The regions with the highest demand for electric vehicles are Syrdarya, Khorezm, and Kashkadarya.
Additionally, an important date in Uzbekistan's automotive industry is July 19, 1996. On this day, the first car under the Uz-Daewoo brand, the Nexia model, was produced at the factory in Asaka.
This event marked a significant milestone in the development of the country's automotive industry.
